I did an update from Jaunty with update-manager -d.
I have just played around a bit, but I'm not able to reproduce the bug. I've 
attached the files from /var/crash, I hope these are what you are looking for. 
The tarball contains:

2009-09-28 23:58 linux-image-2.6.31-11-generic.175096.crash
2009-09-28 01:21 _usr_bin_krunner.1000.crash
2009-09-28 01:45 _usr_sbin_cupsd.0.crash

_usr_share_kde4_apps_kconf_update_zz-plasma-remove-network-manager.py.1000.crash

Furthermore, I'll defer updates for now.
