Even running mail-notification (with non-default expire-timeout and
click action defined) does not trigger a fallback-dialog on my system. I
ran notify-osd under gdb and while mail-notification was issuing
notifications via libnotify nothing went wrong.

It would be best, if you (wilcoxjay) could figure out a way to always
trigger the fallback-dialog using mail-notification.

BTW, could you try grabbing notify-osd from trunk (bzr branch lp:notify-
osd/karmic), compile it, don't install it and just run "notify-osd-
trunk/tests/test-modules -p /libnotify/test_withlib_actions" to see if
that also triggers the assertion on your system?
