Hi all. Yes, updating doesn't restart the applet. You would need to quit
it and restart, or log out and back in, for the updated code to be
running. This would explain why the prefs dialog came up, but it didn't
change the settings in the applet immediately (and the applet might have
overridden the changes when it was quit).
