@Colin We do need a solution then for this issue with the PAE kernel. DKMS packages are something that we have to often use. This can be solved by hacking the linux-headers-pae into a preseed file. Though this is something that will cause many problems down the road as some will be unaware why DKMS packages are failing when installing to a system that has the PAE kernel.
Yes I reopen the bug task since the problem is not fully fixed. I was unaware that desktop metapackage was the one installing the linux-headers.
