Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: soundconverter

I wanted to extract the audio of a mpg video and thus wanted SoundConverter to
convert it to mp3.
The progress starts, there is no error output or warning messages, but the
progress never proceeds, i.e. the “estimated time remaining” increases without
the job getting done at all.

The same problem is described here:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=865223
The suggested workaround is to use ffmpeg or mplayer to do the task.

Totem plays the input file just fine.
