Indeed this seems to be upstream.  Unfortunately we're nearing Karmic
kernel freeze so only likely critical bug fixes at this point are likely
to get in.  This may have to wait for Lucid.  An immediate alternative
though would be to run one of the latest mainline daily kernels which
should already include this patch.  See
