The situation with me is the same as with AnthonyC - I didn't have rsyslog installed at the time the issue occurred. rsyslog remained in "Residual Config" as it was impossible to be removed (another ticket). Instead of removing it I've installed it and the problem did not appear again. Hope that info helps.
