maybe I am mistaken, but I think that alsa-driver is different from pulseaudio? I believe pulseaudio is the problem, and here is what I did:
- all updates done for today (should have given a karmic beta install) - in synaptic select pulseaudio for uninstall, and click ok to uninstall all dependencies - restart - start rhythmbox, and play radio music - start skype. Any skype sound creating activity is overlayed on the background music. A test-call confirms that the microphone is working on another front, with pulseaudio uninstalled the mythtv-frontend is no longer killing the sound, as reported in Bug #436792 I don't think it was such a good idea to have pulseaudio introduced as default system in the last alpha. Now we have a beta with major sound issues! -- [ubuntu karmic] no microphone in skype https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/437192 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
