Had this myself...I only noticed when I was getting error messages
telling me that my HDD was full (over 300GB!) and found the repeated
lines in both user.log and syslog:

Oct  3 00:06:18 Venus HP-PSC-2500: prnt/hpijs/services.cpp 386: unable to write 
to output, fd=1, count=4096: Broken pipe
Oct  3 00:06:18 Venus HP-PSC-2500: prnt/hpijs/services.cpp 386: unable to write 
to output, fd=1, count=4096: Broken pipe
Oct  3 00:06:18 Venus HP-PSC-2500: prnt/hpijs/services.cpp 386: unable to write 
to output, fd=1, count=4096: Broken pipe
Oct  3 00:06:18 Venus HP-PSC-2500: prnt/hpijs/services.cpp 386: unable to write 
to output, fd=1, count=4096: Broken pipe
Oct  3 00:06:18 Venus HP-PSC-2500: prnt/hpijs/services.cpp 386: unable to write 
to output, fd=1, count=4096: Broken pipe

and so on.

This only happens if I'm printing something and I don't switch on the
printer (in my case I forgot about it until my disk got full).
