Thank you for your suggestion. However, the changes you are requesting
aren't really a bug and require more discussion, which should be done on
an appropriate mailing list or forum.
http://www.ubuntu.com/support/community/mailinglists might be a good
start for determining which mailing list to use.
If you are using the Nautilus file manager, you can modify the default
application by right-clicking on the file and selecting properties. On
the "open with" tab, you can select from your installed applications.
Using right-click and "open-with" you can also selection a different
application that the default for a single use.
