I don't know why - but somehow the issue I described disappeared. I
cannot say if it was due to local changes or any package update.

The only persisting problem concerning special keys is that sometimes the key 
remains "virtually pressed" after hitting. 
This is: I press the "open appllication x" key one time and KDE keeps on 
opening one application instance after the other until I kill the service KDED. 
Just as I never released the button. 
I don't think that this is a hardware problem: If I disconnect the keyboard 
from the computer, KDE keeps on starting new application instances. 
This behaviour occures only sometimes - perhaps every third day or so... 

Is this subject for another bug-report?
