Faust: Some network cards are able to do some of the TCP/IP work
instead of the Linux kernel to reduce the load on your CPU. 'ethtool -K
eth0 rx off tx off' will force the Linux kernel to do that TCP/IP
checksumming instead of your network card. Likely there is a bug in the
network card of that fixes your problem.

One other observation: If you are having problems with dropped networks
try upgrading the firmware on your router. I did experience a problem
with a Linksys router that would crash after a large amount of
Bittorrent traffic.
