Public bug reported:
Using OS: Ubuntu 9.10 Beta
I inserted a dvd, to which I had previously written jpeg files using some
program in Windows.
I opened the disc in Nautilus. The thumbnails of the pictures did not form, as
usual, when entering the directory containing the jpeg files. I attempted to
open a jpeg picture from this dvd, and received no success along with an error
message in The Gnome Image Viewer, which says it cannot open the jpeg picture.
I mounted an iso file, which I used to backup other pictures onto another
computer before installing Ubuntu 9.10 Beta.
I opened the mounted iso file in Nautilus. The thumbnails of the pictures did
not form, as usual, when entering the directory containing the jpeg files. I
attempted to open a jpeg picture from this dvd, and received no success along
with an error message in The Gnome Image Viewer, which says it cannot open the
jpeg picture.
I copied one of the jpeg pictures to my /Desktop, still a thumbnail did
not form, and I was unable to open the picture with the same error
message.
I am able to read successfully from both sources (the dvd and the iso
archive) using Ubuntu 9.04, with proper thumbnail images. So I know
that the sources are not corrupt.
If, using Ubuntu 9.10 Beta, I open a website in firefox and save a jpeg
picture to my /Desktop, it successfully forms a thumbnail and I can
successfully open the file in The Eye of Gnome.
I am not sure what other information to provide, but I created a apport-
bug report of Nautilus browsing a directory containing jpegs on the dvd.
