Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: update-manager

Unfortunately I do not remember the details.

All I know I was on Ubuntu Studio 8.04, and in the update manager, I
clicked on get 8.10. It generated some errors about drivers and when I
restarted, startx was not working.

I had to fix it using the xfix utility. After that, when I I started
startx, the nvidia drivers were not installed.

My Video card is Nvidia 7300.
