thank you for your bug report, that's not a bug though but a design
decision, the show desktop is not mean to send all software to the task
list but to show the desktop to be able to interact with it, once done
you get your normal layout back on screen

After clicking "show desktop" applet and then selecting a window, many windows
are expanded
