Is this still reproducible in later versions of Ubuntu? There's a good
chance that this was a kernel bug which has since been fixed.
Also, your bug report mentions that you have the vmware kernel modules
loaded, which could account for it - does your machine still crash on
suspend if you don't have the vmware modules loaded?
