Bittornado crashed during the first startup. Bittornado was installed purely with aptitude. Additional ports were opened as suggested in: http://ubuntuguide.org/wiki/Ubuntu_Edgy#How_to_install_P2P_BitTorrent_Client_.28Bittornado.29
Bittornado was launched from "Applications -> Internet -> Bittornado Client" start menu. There was no torrent file seleced initially for download. Then correct usage dialog box appeared and finally came a crash-notification. Hope this helps.
