This isn't just the gwibber package. I think this is actually a bug related to PPA Launchpad... it's offering us the option to use these Sources even when they don't exist.
http://ppa.launchpad.net/gwibber-team/ppa/ubuntu/dists/ If you check the above link there isn't a directory for karmic. Another PPA I added using exactly the same method as the above is webkit-team which as you can see from the below doesn't throw up the same error and if you check with the same link as the above there is a karmic release there. http://ppa.launchpad.net/webkit-team/ppa/ubuntu/dists/ It is somewhat a major fail to have made the most visible link for a ppa something that seemingly 90% of developers have yet to catch up with.
