i think after i reset my debian-sys-maint password with the one at
/etc/mysql/debian.cnf ; here are the result:
fen...@thinkbuntu:~$ sudo /etc/init.d/mysql restart
* Stopping MySQL database server mysqld
[ OK ]
* Starting MySQL database server mysqld
[ OK ]
* Checking for corrupt, not cleanly closed and upgrade needing tables.

package mysql-server-5.1 5.1.37-1ubuntu4 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess
new pre-removal script returned error exit status 1
