If you can, I would test the 9.10 Karmic Koala beta asap, to see if your b43 NIC works with it; it works for me. Also, the reason I mention that 2.6.30.8 kernel is because it's what I'm using until Ubuntu 9.10 is released, and until after it stabilizes. 'hope this stop-gap measure works for you too!
