$ ls -l /var/lib/apt/periodic
$ sudo apt-get update
$ ls -l /var/lib/apt/periodic
** Changed in: update-manager (Ubuntu)
Status: New => Incomplete
** Package changed: update-manager (Ubuntu) => update-notifier (Ubuntu)
