@Youri: xsplash is not enabled to show at shutdown, so I'm confused by
your last post. What do the following 3 commands return for you:
1) dpkg -l usplash
2) dpkg -l xsplash
3) dpkg -l ubuntu-desktop
--
no xsplash on boot
