Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: pulseaudio

Often my audio will enter a state where it cannot capture using the
microphone jack as input. This is on a Hp Touchsmart tx2. When I attempt
to restart pulseaudio on the command line, I get the following output:

bea...@jacob-laptop:~$ pkill pulseaudio
jbea...@jacob-laptop:~$ pulseaudio
I: caps.c: Limited capabilities successfully to CAP_SYS_NICE.
I: caps.c: Dropping root privileges.

limits.

appropriate PolicyKit privileges, or become a member of 'pulse-rt', or increase
the RLIMIT_NICE/RLIMIT_RTPRIO resource limits for this user.

Applications that capture audio tend to simply hang, and then often
crash. Skype 2.1 beta will capture audio with the test call for about 40
seconds and then crash. arecord will freeze, and cannot be killed even
with Ctrl+C. Gnome Sound Recorder does not freeze, but only records
clicking noises.

This occurs intermittently. I haven't been able to find anything that
motivates it.
