Ubuntu better. Unfortunately we can't fix it without more information.
In Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic) we have a new tool to debug storage related
problems. Please run "ubuntu-bug", select "storage problem", and walk
through the steps. This will create a new bug report, so I'll close this
one (which doesn't have much info anyway).
