To tell the truth I've not tested the patch, so I don't know if it will
result in a correct thing. And the patch is not complete.

1) on the eglibc mailing list they say that they just copied the tree. In fact 
they don't want a fix in eglibc, but directly in glibc.
2) I'm not sure that the historical separator is "." do you have a reference? 
In the IBM reference they say it's ":" We need to find something official. Is 
there an organization which have this information?

the final patch should generate a format like this (either with . or :)
