** Description changed:

The applet nvidia-settings does not detect my external flat panel. I
have a Nvidia 9600M GT card, and tried using the drivers 173 and 180
from ubuntu and 185 and 190 using the guide at
  http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1125400

The panel is connect from my HDMI port on the PC throug and HDMI to DVI
converter and finaly through a DVI cable.

The monitor was detected yesterday by nvidia-settings, but today it is
not detected at all. I have tried to boot with the screen plugged and
unplugged, but no changes are seen.

When I plug in the cable the screen goes black and display shortly "3:
  Digital Input Entering Power Save".

Please help me to solve this problem.
