As of today, the 'cardbus cards' message no longer appears, but now text consoles are even more unusable - instead of the constant messages, the screen appears as an array of random colors. (see bug report #447595). It is possible to switch in and out of a console with ctrl-alt-Fn and alt-F7, but you can't see what you are doing. I was able to log in blindly to a console, switch back to Gnome, and see the login on the console with `who` in a terminal window.
