I can't boot the generic kernel because it's not installed on my system. I installed Ubuntu Studio 9.04 and there is no generic kernel. No matter what i try (synaptic or terminal), I can't installed the linux-generic package because the installer jumps right back to the openoffice.org- emailmerge update and immediately freezes. Is there any way i can prevent this from happening and install the generic kernel? Do i need to completely reinstall Ubuntu Studio from cd and then try to install the generic kernel? I hope i can do it without having to completely reinstall the whole system.
