Nicolò, are you still seeing this problem with usplash 0.5.41? The
current usplash upstart job is configured as:
start on (runlevel [016]
and (stopped gdm
or stopped kdm
or stopped xdm))
which I believe is correct (though it may trigger bug #447654, that
might require looking into). This does mean there will be a brief
period between stopping the DM and starting usplash, but I'm not sure
that can be avoided entirely - I'm not sure it's safe to start usplash
before X is stopped, in the general case.
