HI,
I too have similar king of problem. I did a USB boot stick and tried the
ubuntu 9.10 beta. As soon I chose the option, it did some thing and the
desktop appeared. However, it was a total freeze !. Neither keyboard nor
mouse worked and was not able to do any thing. Had to forcibly shutdown
the system.
I tried on two different spec machine one that had a nvedia and the
other ATI graphics card. The problem was the same, it just froze. Both
the machines were 32 bit intel CPUs
