Binary package hint: usplash
After loading the kernel the screen is clean (except maybe the blinking
cursor in the top left corner). Then what I think is the grub menu
appears, but in another video mode so it appears smaller. This is just a
short flash, then the Ubuntu icon appears.
Since I have 1680x1050 (native LCD resolution) in usplash.conf, the
shrinked grub menu probably corresponds to the fullscreen VGA menu now
displayed in this resolution.
