Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: tasksel

Using the netinstall from the 9.10 Karmic Koala beta the task selection
section of the installer pulls in 125 extra packages. During
installation if one selects a basic server install 146 packages will be
installed (as of 10-Oct-2009). Immediately after the 146 packages are
downloaded and configured the installer downloads and configures an
additional 125 packages without warning. These packages include
openoffice.org and OpenJDK.

I do not know what is causing these 125 packages to be installed.
Remember, this is a server install with no other tasks selected. They
are flagged with an 'A' in aptitude after installation. This indicates
that they were installed to satisfy a dependency. The extra packages
can be somewhat removed by running 'apt-get autoremove libxext6' and
then 'apt-get install libxext6', but this leaves broken dependencies in
several places.

If anyone has any tips for how I can determine which specific package
depends on these 125 please post that info in this report. I could only
trace it back to being somewhat related to libxext6 through trial and
error. Thanks.
