Public bug reported: When starting a Jaunty computer at work, it didn't start, just showing 20% - 30% finished but hanging there. I could switch to another VT. When switching to F8 and hitting CTRL+ALT+DELETE it started moving again, and I could then go to VT1 (CTRL+ALT+F1).
>From there I had to mount -o remount,rw / /etc/init.d/gdm stop /etc/init.d/gdm start and it all worked swell again. The first time I tried this, I also had to get an IP-address (dhclient eth0) and mount my home dirs (mount /home). As you can see, there is a bug in the linux kernel (dmesg told me so). I haven't had problems with this computer before.
