$ which mplayer
$ ldd `which mplayer`
at least for me, 'ldd `which mplayer` | grep directfb` shows me this:
libdirect-1.2.so.0 => /usr/lib/libdirect-1.2.so.0 (0x0089f000)
So it is linked against the 'correct' version of libdirectfb.
