Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-terminal

When audio is enabled and a video or audio application is not running (a.k.a.
nothing is making sound) I can hear my speakers stutter every time gnome
terminal, xterm (couldn't get this to happen with terminator) get or loose
focus or when I press backspace in the terminal until the line is empty.
Audio stutter is probably not the right term. It sound more like the audio
engine is (re)initializing, it's like the sound you also hear when you boot
your machine with the speaker really loud, you can here a "thump" when the
audio kicks in.
