I am having the same problem with a Gateway MX6440. I have tried suspending and resuming with and without linux-backports-modules-karmic. By the looks of the original submitters BootDmesg.txt this is an extremely similar machine to the MX6440. If there is anything I can add that can help with troubleshooting this issue, just ping me.
