Hi Russell Faull,
my opinion is that USB drive (virtual CDROM/ZeroCD) must exist but possibly not 
mounted automatically. It is not good to reject it as in the future a 
manufacturer may want to include any Linux (open source better) application 
program to control/update their modem (ex. like betavine s/w). The user can add 
a rule to eject/unmount it automatically. The same and more important is to get 
access on microSD card reader.
