There is no ubuntu change which should create any such issue and the bug
doesn't happen there. Do you have the bug in using a stock
configuration? Do you use the option to display plain text email or
something not standard?

When writing a message, if selection doesn't contain beginning of the line,
it's impossible to copy it using right click->copy because selection is lost
