How do you measure that? There's a chance that key presses get
duplicated through acpi-support. Can you please do
killall gnome-settings-daemon
xev|grep -A 5 ^KeyPress
and check if you get one or two key press results for the brightness
keys? If you get two, please try to purge the "acpi-support" package.
Does it still happen then?
