You said that the key works great: Does it actually turn off the sound?
Is that reflected in the mixer, and do you get a notification bubble for
it? If so, then the key is already fully working.

However, your kernel complains about an unknown key. I can fix the key
to be recognized as "mute" key. Please download attached file and copy
it with

  sudo cp 95-keymap.rules /lib/udev/rules.d/

Then reboot, and verify that the kernel does not complain about the
missing keys any more.

Do you get any different behavior with the mute key (except for the
LED)?

However, I have no idea how to drive the LED.
