I just installed Jaunty, and only used my Ethernet connection, next I
did an upgrade to Karmic and after it finished and re-booted, my
Ethernet connection worked just fine.  I double-checked it in the
Connections Editor and IPv6 methods is set to "Ignore" as it should be.

I'm going to try one more time after first making my Ethernet connection
"available to all users".
