A sequence of 2-3 pops now happens about once per 2 seconds.  Muting the
output doesn't make it stop.  Does anyone know what further information
is useful for diagnosing this?  The packages I updated now were:

The odd thing is that this list has no audio-related packages in it.
Could this be a bug in the audio driver in the kernel?
