Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xsplash
Karmic splash image suffers from high banding. Compare this (the most right image): http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/9/9a/Colour_banding_example01.png and this: http://lh6.ggpht.com/_FJH0hYZmVtc/SpXDJ9J1GdI/AAAAAAAACVk/-YYv-fzTlh4/s1600-h/gdm-list-3%5B3%5D.png (sorry, I couldn't find this image in it's original size). Even though the second image (representing Karmic splash) is small, I still see visible banding there. The first linked picture looks OK. It seems like a poorly designed splash image, could it be corrected?
