Binary package hint: xsplash

Karmic splash image suffers from high banding. Compare this (the most right 
image):

(sorry, I couldn't find this image in it's original size).

Even though the second image (representing Karmic splash) is small, I
still see visible banding there. The first linked picture looks OK. It
seems like a poorly designed splash image, could it be corrected?
