If the CD is not mountable or bootable, this is most likely a problem that results from the fact that you do not use the original software but a defective fork.
In your specific case, the problem is not really from wodim (although cdrecord would by default write in SAO mode and this way make the whole media readable). Your problem is most likely a result of the well known bugs in genisoimage.
