I agree that this seems very specific to Wine, and perhaps even certain plugins in Reaper under wine. I've been playing with other projects and they seem to play fine still. It was only because I had been looking at a certain old project with some really cpu intensive effects going that caused me to notice this downturn in performance. I'm not even sure it is worth my using the nohz=on parameter, as it is clear that realtime performance is improved without it (except maybe for this case, with these vsts). If I start running into this problem regularly with Reaper, at least i know how to fix it now. Definitely too many variables between wine, wineasio, Reaper and multiple third party vsts to be worth trying to figure out why no dynamic ticks makes a difference. I'll be giving Ardour another good look when it hits 3.0 anyway.
