Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: update-manager

After I upgraded to Karmic beta, when I click "update" in the Update
Manager I get a dialog with the following message (see attached
screenshot):

"Could not download all repository indexes

The repository may no longer be available or could not be contacted
because of network problems. If available an older version of the failed
index will be used. Otherwise the repository will be ignored. Check your
network connection and ensure the repository address in the preferences
is correct.

Problem executing scripts APT::Update::Pre-Invoke '[ ! -x
/usr/lib/ia32-archive/bin/apt-update ] || /usr/lib/ia32-archive/bin/apt-
update'Sub-process returned an error code"

This is x64 not not x32 so I'm not sure, why it's trying to run a 32-bit
version of apt-update, but the net result is that I can't check for
updates with Update Manager but have to run "sudo aptitude update" from
the command line. "aptitude update" works fine though, and after doing
that, and restarting Update Manager, it shows and installs the updates
correctly.

Screenshot of error dialog attached... Please let me know if there's
more information that would be helpful.
