Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: cupsys

Hi,

I'm using an Ubuntu 6.10 Edgy with an Epson AcuLaser C4000 color printer.
I installed the driver found on Open Printing.org
http://openprinting.org/show_printer.cgi?recnum=Epson-AcuLaser_C4000
This Epson printer is connected to my network (lpd://192.168.1.x).
Printing the test page is working.

When i try to print a .ppt document, nothing is printed and after 2 or 3
minutes, i have my CPU usage to 100% and some "Out of memory" log...
In a "top" command, i have foomatic-rip to 100% CPU...

I have to restart cupsys daemon (# sudo /etc/init.d/cupsys restart) to
stop the lake of memory but nothing is printed....

I watched /var/log/messages and /var/log/cups/error_log and access_log
but nothing strange was found !

I tested with the same ubuntu box, the same document, but with another
printer (Kyocera Color Lacer) and it worked fine !

Cupsys is 1.2.4-2ubuntu3
Gnome-cups-manager is 0.31-1.1ubuntu14
Cupsys-driver-gutenprint is 5.0.0-2ubuntu2

What could be done to help me to analyse this problem ?

CUPS has released a new version of cupsys (v.1.2.8).
Is it planned to package this new version of CUPS soon for Ubuntu 6.10 ?

Thanks.

Benjamin
