Public bug reported:

The RT kernels sometimes hang at boot, this always happens with a newly
installed version and periodically afterwards. What happens is the
usplash comes up the dies down and the fan starts howling. The screen
gets stuck on black and only holding the power button will end it. The
screen is still on by the way, I'm talking about black as in off as the
backlight is still on.

Usually after trying 5 or 6 times it will boot, attempting to switch to
a tty also seems to help a bit.
