I am sorry, but this has happened a long time ago and I no longer have the same
setup now. However, I can report that newer versions (especially Jaunty, which
I'm using right now) do not have this problem any more, and I'm able to
succesfully run TwinView with different resolutions.
This was true before changing my setup (as you can see, I've previously owned
two analog monitors) and more so now, when I'm using a digital monitor (that
is, connected through DVI cable) and a FullHD LCD TV (connected through DVI to
HDMI cable).

However, it should be noted that all changes to display resolution
and/or position are made via the nvidia-settings application.
