This would actually require a stable release update for the releases
that you would like to see contain this fix. You can learn more about
this process at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates. Part of
that process requires that the fix exist in the current release of
Ubuntu, which it does. Subsequently, it makes more sense for the other
bug 341256 to have tasks (which I've added) for Hardy and Intrepid. I
am making this bug a duplicate of that one.
